Shop Foreman
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership: Manage and mentor service personnel by assigning work orders, directing daily shop activities, and performing "high-level" repairs to lead by example.
Fleet Availability: Partner with the Maintenance/General Manager to coordinate equipment release (motor vehicles, compaction units, etc.) for inspections and service, minimizing downtime for our routes.
Digital Workflow Management: Expertly plan and schedule repairs within the TMW Planning system, ensuring all parts are procured and staged before the truck hits the bay.
Asset Stewardship: Oversee the division’s tire program, attend all scrap-outs to identify wear patterns, and manage inventory integrity to eliminate waste.
Financial & Administrative Precision: Manage monthly POs, reconcile TMW data with Corporate Purchasing Cards, and execute Month-End (EOM) reporting with 100% accuracy.
Vendor Management: Authorize the purchase of tools and supplies; coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs that exceed in-house capabilities.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure every vehicle meets GFL, DOT, and FMCSA standards. Maintain meticulous maintenance and safety records required by federal, state, and local agencies.
Incident Investigation: Evaluate the cause and extent of damage resulting from accidents, providing technical reports to leadership to support insurance and safety claims.
Talent Development: Assist in hiring, training, and monitoring the performance of technicians; identify skill gaps and lead ongoing technical training sessions.
Leadership Continuity: Serve as the primary point of contact and Acting Supervisor in the absence of the Maintenance Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Technical Mastery: Advanced mechanical and troubleshooting skills across a wide range of diesel engines, hydraulics, and complex compaction equipment.
Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with the Vehicle Inspection program and DOT safety regulations.
Systems Proficiency: Strong computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly master fleet management software (TMW).
Communication: Clear, concise communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and high-pressure deadlines.
