Scope of Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Staff Accountant to take ownership of core general ledger accounting for our corporate office departments. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this role is essential to ensuring the accuracy of our financial records through the execution of full-cycle accounting, complex reconciliations, and month-end close activities for our corporate departments. This individual will play a key role in maintaining strong internal controls and ensuring data integrity as we build out our standalone finance organization.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate General Ledger & Month-End Close

  • Execute full-cycle accounting for our corporate departments, ensuring accurate and timely recording of operating expenses and accruals.
  • Prepare and record monthly journal entries, including those related to corporate payroll, benefits, and overhead allocations.
  • Manage lease accounting and tracking under IFRS 16 for the corporate portfolio, ensuring accurate amortization schedules and monthly entries.
  • Process, reconcile, and confirm intercompany transactions between corporate and field entities.

Reconciliations & Financial Integrity

  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations for corporate accounts, investigating and resolving variances promptly.
  • Manage a high volume of bank reconciliations, ensuring all cash activity is properly recorded and cleared.
  • Perform detailed reconciliations of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable subledgers to the general ledger.
  • Ensure accurate recording of other corporate transactions, such as insurance and prepaid expenses.

Audit Support & Process Improvement

  • Prepare audit working papers for annual external audits.
  • Assist the Corporate Controller in refining accounting procedures and leveraging the ERP system to streamline month-end close cycle times and increase accuracy.

Competency Profile

  • Detail Orientation: Demonstrates thorough knowledge of relevant accounting methods and ensures accuracy in the general ledger.
  • Operational Excellence: Focuses strongly on executing agreed-upon outcomes and ensures that key deadlines (month-end close) are met with precision.
  • Proactivity: Takes initiative to investigate discrepancies and solve practical accounting problems independently.
  • Adaptability: Capable of operating in a high-growth environment where finance functions are being built out and elevated.

Preferred Experience / Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of progressive general ledger accounting experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and experience managing complex balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience participating in monthly close processes in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups).
