Scale Clerk
Montrose, Michigan
Duties
The Scale Clerk is responsible for weighing all inbound and outbound vehicles, inspecting loose loads, directing them to proper unloading areas, and assisting in the details of purchases
Ensure adherence to safety standards including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), remove hazards as identified, and maintain cleanliness of the work area
Communicates clearly and concisely with landfill customers, management, and coworkers to ensure safety and customer service goals are met.
Maintain accurate records as required
Operate scale computer, applying correct material codes
Deliver customer service excellence via telephone, two-way radio, e-mail, face to face, etc.
Process paperwork, enter information and create standardized reports
Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Handle cash sales/drawer
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Typical schedule for this position is 11:00am-4:30pm, M-F, with occasional Saturdays.
Minimum Job Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Basic math and data entry skills
Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks at once
Ability to maintain accurate records
Ability to follow oral and written communication
Work cooperatively with other employees and the public
Working Conditions:
Extensive communication with customers all throughout the day. Clear and polite communication is a primary job function for the scale clerk.
Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
Must be able to work in an environment where routinely exposed to dust, dirt, vibrations, extreme climate and changes in weather
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
