Bunn Excavating is seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager to oversee civil construction projects from award through closeout. This role is responsible for cost control, scheduling, coordination with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Estimators, Superintendents, and Foremen.

  • Assist the Estimator with project setup, transferring awarded projects from HeavyBid into HeavyJob and Foundations.

  • Review daily work completed in HeavyJob and monitor labor utilization reports weekly in Foundations.

  • Track and review weekly job cost reports, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.

  • Utilize HeavyBid as needed to price extra work and set up approved extra work in HeavyJob and Foundations.

  • Participate in project buyout alongside the Estimator, Superintendent, and OO following project award.

  • Request, track, and submit all submittals and shop drawings to the Engineer for review and approval once buyout is complete.

  • Set up and conduct internal preconstruction meetings to ensure all job details are clearly communicated prior to mobilization.

  • Lead external preconstruction meetings with Owners/GCs to align expectations and requirements at the start of construction.

  • Conduct weekly jobsite visits to review progress, identify unforeseen conditions, review extra work requests, and maintain strong relationships with Owners, GCs, and Inspectors.

  • Convert all T&M work into change orders promptly to ensure timely billing and payment.

  • Attend progress and scheduling meetings with Owners, GCs, Inspectors, and internal field leadership.

  • Develop, maintain, and update internal project schedules using Microsoft Project, ensuring effective manpower allocation across all Bunn Excavating projects.

  • Forecast monthly project expenses and revenues based on updated schedules and communicated project needs.

  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with Owners/GCs/Inspectors and internal staff via phone and email.

  • Lead external closeout meetings to review punchlist items, confirm completion, and ensure client expectations are met or exceeded.

  • Conduct internal closeout meetings to confirm all requirements are met, extras billed, and closeout documentation completed and submitted.

  • Review end-of-project profitability and job cost reports with the project team to identify lessons learned and improve future bidding, operations, and profitability.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in civil construction.

  • Strong working knowledge of HeavyBid, HeavyJob, and Foundations (preferred).

  • Experience managing job costs, schedules, change orders, and project closeout documentation.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with Owners, GCs, Inspectors, and internal teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project and standard construction software tools.

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
