Project Coordinator/Estimator

Our Estimating and Projects Department is looking for an Estimator to join its team! We are looking for a skilled, educated, responsible and reliable candidate to provide support to our growing team. Please note this is a 1 year contract with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate, comprehensive cost estimates for projects ranging from $200,000 to $10,000,000 with margin analysis.
  • Scope Review: Analyze project blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct regular site visits (1–2 days per week) to assess field conditions, verify measurements, and gather crucial data for bidding.
  • Vendor & Subcontractor Liaison: Solicit, review, and negotiate quotes from subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and alignment with project scopes.
  • Risk Analysis: Identify potential financial, operational, or timeline risks in project bids and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure estimates align with project execution plans and client expectations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of dedicated project estimating experience, specifically within the construction industry (industrial services experience is highly preferred). Knowledge about vacuum trucks, hydro-excavation, and pressure washing is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully estimating and winning bids for projects valued between $200k and $10M.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and have regular access to a reliable personal vehicle for site visits.
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Strong mathematical acumen, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to spot discrepancies in complex documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective negotiation and stakeholder management.
