Operations Supervisor
The Mission
As an Operations Supervisor, you aren’t just managing a schedule; you are the heartbeat of our Gainesville facility. You will lead a dedicated team of drivers and technicians who keep our community running. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for a leader who thrives on the front lines, isn’t afraid of early mornings, and knows that true leadership happens in the yard, not just behind a desk.
Why Lead Here?
Operational Ownership: You have the autonomy to recruit, hire, and build your own high-performing team.
Performance-Driven Culture: We value grit and results. Your ability to hit productivity standards and maintain safety is directly tied to your success.
Career Trajectory: We prioritize internal growth. This role is a proven launchpad for Facility and General Management positions.
What You’ll Do
Build Your Crew: Own the full lifecycle of your team—from interviewing and hiring to training and mentoring. You don’t just fill seats; you build a culture of accountability.
Drive Excellence: Monitor daily route completions and resolve "boots-on-the-ground" challenges in real-time. You are the primary problem-solver for our customers and our drivers.
Safety First, Always: Conduct routine route observations and lead monthly safety meetings. In this environment, your leadership literally keeps people safe.
Master the Logistics: Navigate CDL regulations, vehicle inspections, and driver logs with precision to ensure we remain the most professional fleet on the road.
The Benefits of Joining the Green Team
We believe our people are our greatest asset. To support our leaders, we offer a comprehensive benefits package:
Competitive Pay: This position is a salary based position with up to a 20% yearly STIP bonus.
Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
Financial Security: 401(k) retirement plan with company match and life insurance options.
Work-Life Balance: Paid time off (PTO)15 days/year starting year 1 and paid holidays.
Employee Support: Access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and various internal training materials
What You Bring to the Yard
The "Lead by Example" Mentality: You’ve spent time in the waste or transportation industry. You understand the long hours and the physical demands because you’ve been there.
Command Presence: You have at least one year of supervisory experience (or experience as a GFL Lead Driver) and can handle tough conversations with fairness and respect.
Problem-Solving Grit: When a route goes sideways or a truck breaks down, you’re the one with the plan.
Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
Tech Savant: You’re a wizard with routing software, GPS tracking, and fleet management systems.
Cool Under Pressure: When a storm hits or the yard gets chaotic, you’re the calm center of the cyclone.
The X-Factor: You’ve got a sense of humor, a thick skin, and a passion for environmental sustainability.
