In this role, the Manager, Talent Acquisition will be responsible for serving as a strategic relationship builder and experienced Talent Partner, bringing the EQ to influence, the expertise to guide, and the vision to elevate how Talent Acquisition shows up across our business. This is more than filling roles — it’s about shaping the candidate and hiring manager experience, strengthening our employer brand, and building the partnerships that help GFL deliver essential services across Canada.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Strategy: Develop and deliver talent acquisition strategies aligned with business objectives, meeting both high-volume and specialized hiring needs.
  • Partner with the Business: Collaborate with HR and Hiring Managers to understand priorities and ensure timely, effective recruitment outcomes.
  • Own the Candidate Journey: Oversee the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle, leveraging Workday and best practices to deliver an efficient, high-quality, and candidate-focused experience.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and enhance recruitment processes to improve speed, efficiency, candidate quality, and long-term retention.
  • Leverage Data & Insights: Monitor recruitment metrics, analyze trends, and provide actionable insights that drive smarter business and hiring decisions.
  • Strengthen the Brand: Build GFL’s presence in the market by developing pipelines, engaging in community partnerships, and positioning GFL as an employer of choice.
  • Ensure Excellence: Maintain compliance with employment legislation and internal policies while driving operational excellence.
  • Inspire & Mentor: Lead, coach, and develop a team of leads and Talent Acquisition Partners to achieve results, while modeling GFL’s core values every day.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of progressive Talent Acquisition leadership experience, including leading leaders, ideally in high-volume, field, or operational recruitment.
  • A proven track record of building, mentoring, and leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong experience with recruitment technology (Workday, Paradox, AI tools) and advanced analytics to drive hiring effectiveness.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges, design scalable solutions, and deliver measurable results.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and a commitment to best-in-class recruitment practices.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the confidence and EQ to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
  • A passion for elevating Talent Acquisition into a trusted, strategic business partner and driver of business success.
  • Willingness to travel across Canada and the U.S. (approx. 25%).
