GFL Environmental is looking for a Certified Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Fort St John, BC!

A Day in the Life* of a Mechanic:

  • Maintenance or repairs of diesel, CNG, gas and electrically operated trucks as well as associated heavy duty equipment

  • Using various power tools, hand instruments and cutting-edge equipment

  • Completing daily reports, work orders and ordering necessary parts

  • Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procure parts

  • Assisting in the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedule

What’s Required:

Mechanics must have:

  • Completion of a recognized Heavy Duty Mechanic apprenticeship program and current certification as a Red Seal or B.C. Journeyperson.

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license; ability to operate heavy-duty vehicles safely.

  • Proven experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty trucks and equipment, with strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

  • Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards

  • Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting items up to 100 lbs.
