Financial Analyst
Summary
Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial results through rigorous P&L management, and variance analysis. This role partners closely with Operations and cross-functional teams to oversee revenue/cost recognition and deliver timely month-end reporting. The ideal candidate is a disciplined professional capable of managing diverse accounting tasks—from journal entries to KPI reporting—within a growth-oriented framework.
This position is on-site and based out of our GFL Acheson office.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Working with the Operations managers to perform the monthly closing of P&L (Profit & Loss) activity, including investigation of variances between expected and actual results.
Lead monthly and quarterly P&L reviews with Operational Managers.
Preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
Tracking, posting, and reconciliation of intercompany transactions.
Work closely with cross-functional teams on revenue and cost recognition requirements and analysis.
Support preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Support financial reporting deliverables for month and quarter end.
Monitor and maintain monthly prepaid schedules including adjusting entries.
Provide variance analysis of results on a monthly basis and quarterly basis in accordance with head office deadlines.
Track and report on KPI’s.
Lead and support delivery of assigned projects.
Ensure transactions are in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
Other duties as required.
Education, Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Finance or Accounting and working toward their CPA qualification is required.
2 years of Finance or Accounting experience is required.
Experience with Workday and Google Suite Workspace is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High degree of accuracy and attention to details.
Able to support closure on a tight schedule and provide timely analysis of results.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present to a variety of audiences.
Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
