Environmental Class 3Q Driver

Position Summary

The Environmental Class 3 Driver will be relied upon to visit various client sites to collect and transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials. As a professional driver with a safe driving record, you will utilize TDG knowledge and experience to label containers and prepare transport documentation.

The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely operate all required transport equipment. 

  • Professionally represent GFL on all client sites and look for ways to expand services.

  • Ensure all assigned equipment is properly loaded and maintained.

  • Keep accurate drivers’ logs as required to document mileage, hours and material hauled.

  • Communicate effectively with a team of qualified professionals. 

  • Participate in safety meetings, last minute risk assessments and job hazard assessments.

  • Identify and classify all types of hazardous waste.

  • Handle drum dollies and pallet jacks for the transportation and loading of materials.

  • Other duties as required. 

Requirements

  • Valid Class 3Q Driver’s License with Air Brakes and a fairly clean Commercial Driving Abstract; Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with Air Brakes is an asset.

  • Ability to perform consistent manual labor, including the repetitive lifting, pushing, and pulling of heavy drums, pallets, and containers weighing up to 75+ lbs. 

  • Manual driving experience is an asset.

  • TDG knowledge and experience is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.

  • Ability to work safely and independently.

  • High level of personal integrity.

  • Strong work ethic.

  • Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.

  • Manual dexterity, ability to lift, push and pull up to 75+ lbs. is required.
