Position Summary

GFL Environmental Services is seeking a Class 3A Haz Waste Collection Driver to join our team in Fort St. John. In this role, you will safely operate a box truck to collect liquids and drummed waste materials — including used oil, oil filters, antifreeze, and plastics — from customers throughout Fort St. John and the surrounding areas. We’re looking for a professional, customer-focused individual who takes pride in delivering excellent service and representing GFL’s full range of environmental solutions.

This is a hands-on, physically demanding position that requires the ability to work safely in all weather and driving conditions.

The position follows a weekday schedule, with weekends typically off.

Key Accountabilities

  • Safely operate all required equipment.
  • Follow schedules and service orders in accordance with the Service Coordinator’s instructions.
  • Provide exceptional on-site service to customers and continuously promote GFL’s service offerings.
  • Complete service paperwork in accordance with GFL and TDG regulations.
  • Ensure regular cleaning and maintenance of truck cab, components and other assigned equipment.
  • Keep accurate drivers’ logs as required to document mileage, hours and material hauled.
  • Identify and classify all types of hazardous waste.
  • Participate in GFL’s safety programs including safety meetings, last minute risk assessments, and job hazard assessments.
  • Handle drum dollies and pallet jacks for transportation and loading materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brakes and a fairly clean Commercial Driving Abstract.
  • Ability to operate vehicles with a manual transmission is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity and the ability to lift 50+ lbs. as required.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
  • Ability to work safely and independently.
  • High level of personal integrity.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.
