What You’ll Do

• Safely operate automatic and manual transmission trucks on assigned collection routes (solid waste, recycling, yard waste)

• Swing between different Lines of Business based on needs (residential, Front End, Roll off)

• Routes may vary daily based on service needs

• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, daily truck reports, and route documentation

• Operate truck and equipment using safe, prescribed techniques

• Communicate mechanical issues immediately to the shop and supervisor

• Maintain a clean truck (inside and out)

• Manage assigned Helper(s), if applicable

• Provide professional customer service while on route

• Perform extra pick-ups and special service requests as needed

• Assist with training new drivers when required

• Attend safety and branch meetings

• Follow all DOT, federal, state, local, and company safety regulations

• Wear required PPE at all times

• Report all accidents or incidents immediately

What We’re Looking For

Requirements

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience OR CDL school certificate

• Ability to meet safety-sensitive position requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to safely maneuver trucks in tight spaces and heavy traffic

• Comfortable backing distances of 100+ feet using mirrors

• Knowledge of basic truck components and safe operation

• Ability to recognize and report unacceptable waste

• Strong communication skills

• Ability to read route sheets, maps, and service documents

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly (occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance)

• Commitment to safety and professionalism

Working Conditions

• Outdoor work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)

• Exposure to traffic, noise, fumes, dust, and moving equipment

• Sitting approximately 75% of the shift while driving

• Physically active position including climbing, bending, lifting, and stepping in/out of the truck throughout the day
