AZ Operator, Emergency Response
QUALIFICATIONS
o 4000 hours competed with the Employer.
o Vatid AZ License
o Passed competency evaluation by GFL Supervisor
o Operate Proficiently at Equipment, including but not Limited to: Pneumatic & Shell Tankers, Wet / Dry Vac, Hydro Vac, Liquid (wet) vac, Roll-off Truck and/or Trailers Box Trailers & Straight Truck (including use of pallet jackets, dolly’s, carts, etc.)
o Sewer Cleaning Equipment i.e. combination / sewer flushing units.
o Confined Space Watch, Rescue & Entrance (certified training required).
o Certified Emergency Response Hazmat Technician (GFL course)
o Capable to drive manual transmission truck(s)
Requirements:
• High School diploma minimum
• Certification from recognized Truck Driving School
• Valid Commercial AZ License
• Overtime as required • Weekend work may be required, on call schedule in effect on weekly basis
The Emergency Response Operator will respond to various incidents such as:
• Environmental and Industrial spills
• Clandestine laboratory decommissioning
• Highway incidents involving tractor trailers, accidents, and chemical leaks
• Train derailments involving hazardous chemicals, fires, and site safety.
• Marine operations mostly regarding fuel spills into open bodies of water. Involving boom deployment and boat operations.
• Weather event responses involving wind/ice storms, forest fires, and flooding.
• Chemical assessments and advisory services.
• Working alongside police, fire, EMS, Environment Canada, and other stakeholders.
• Incidents involving heavy equipment, vacuum trucks, and water blasters.
• Participating in job specific and health & safety training as required
• Operating his/her position in an efficient and safe manner
• Completing work related documentation and reporting
• Follow all established organizational policies and procedures
• Promote and participate in a work environment free of workplace harassment and violence
• Perform work in a safe manner, so as not to endanger oneself or others
• Reporting workplace hazards, accidents or other occurrences that may pose a risk to the organization or the safety of oneself or others
• Adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and Employment Standards Act
• Work in a manner that preserves confidentiality and minimizes risk
