Job Summary:

At GFL, our 310T Truck & Transport Mechanics are the backbone of our fleet operations, ensuring our heavy-duty vehicles and equipment are safe, reliable, and ready for the road. In this role, you will perform complex diagnostic, preventative maintenance, and repair work on our fleet of heavy-duty diesel trucks and related equipment, leveraging your expertise while mentoring apprentices and upholding our highest standards of shop safety and performance.

Requirements:

• Licensing/Education: Valid 310T Truck and Transport Mechanic License (or equivalent provincial Red Seal certification).
• Technical Expertise: Proven experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy-duty diesel trucks, hydraulic systems, electrical circuits, and air brakes.
• Work Ethic: Strong commitment to quality craftsmanship, efficiency, reliability, and continuous skill improvement in a fast-paced environment.
• Safety Commitment: Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive positions, including adherence to all local and national safety regulations.
• Tools & Safety: Must possess a comprehensive personal hand tool set suitable for heavy-duty truck maintenance; strong commitment to shop safety protocols.
  

Responsibilities:

• Diagnostic & Repair: Perform complex mechanical, electrical, air brake, and hydraulic diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment.
• Preventative Maintenance: Execute thorough safety inspections, provincial safety certification checks, and scheduled preventative maintenance services across the fleet.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Provide guidance, technical support, and hands-on mentorship to Apprentice Mechanics and junior shop staff.
• Administrative Tasks: Accurately complete work orders, parts requisitions, and detailed maintenance logs using fleet management software.
• Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to company safety policies, OSHA/MOL guidelines, and fleet safety standards to maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free shop.
• Tool & Equipment Care: Utilize, inspect, and maintain diagnostic tools, specialized shop equipment, and personal hand/power tools safely and effectively.
• Operational Efficiency: Work independently and collaboratively with lead mechanics and shop management to minimize vehicle downtime and prioritize urgent repairs.
• Additional Duties: Perform other shop, fabrication, or operational duties as assigned by leadership.
